In order to obtain a marriage license, applicants must:
• Supply proof of identification, driver's license or birth certificate.
• Supply social security card.
• Be married within 30 days after taking out a license.
• Applicants between 16 and 17 years of age must contact the office.
• Applicants under 16 years of age must contact the office.
• License signed by person solemnizing vows should be returned in person or by mail within three days of the ceremony.
Applicants do not need to be residents of Sevier County, nor of Tennessee. Blood tests are no longer required in Tennessee. The marriage ceremony can occur anywhere in Tennessee.

ELEVATION
Ranging from the rugged portions of the Appalachian Mountains to the river valleys, Sevier County has the largest differential in elevation in the entire state of Tennessee. It ranges from 6,643 feet at Clingman's Dome (the highest point in the Smoky Mountains) to 850 feet at the French Broad River.
