Pigeon Forge’s Newest Attraction:
The Lumberjack Feud and Picnic Jamboree…
The Lumberjack Feud is located in the heart of Pigeon Forge and is set to open in the late summer of 2011. This logging based attraction will offer visitors an experience unlike anything else in the Smokies. The show will depict the lives of two Smoky Mountain logging families that find themselves embattled as the timber industry is shut down by the announcement that a National Park was coming and all logging would end. The families find themselves in the fight of their lives because there are only enough private logging tracts remaining to sustain one family. The feud becomes too dangerous so the families agree to settle who must leave the mountains forever at the Pigeon Forge Lumberjack Jamboree.
The force behind the show is Lumberjack Sports International, a company founded by Rob Scheer who has over 30 years of production experience. Scheer has made his life work the promotion of the American Lumberjack, an iconic hero like the Cowboy who helped build this nation. Scheer has built and promoted three shows in Wisconsin, Alaska and now Tennessee. His company expanded to become the Sport Organizer for STIHL ESPN Timbersports and IRONJACK on the Outdoor Channel. Scheer and his research team have dug deep into the local history of the Smokies to create video vignettes, using still photos, logging memorabilia and displays that will become the Smoky Mountain Forest History Center and will share a space with their Lumberjack Hall of Fame.
Scheer believes this story must be told and intends to recreate a true Smokey Mountain experience from the 1930’s when it was common for local logging communities to host lumberjack competitions. These were festive celebrations with music, food and friendly competition between the rival camps. And, at the Lumberjack Feud, you become part of the show as a cousin to one of the two feuding’ families the Dawson’s and McGraw’s.
The Picnic Jamboree is the dinner portion of the show experience. It is filled with good grub, music, comedy, juggling and dueling chain saw carving competitions. You could be the one chosen to climb one of the 55 foot climbing trees! Once the Picnic Jamboree is complete, the Camp Bull Cook, Danny Black, will take the guests on a historic journey back to the days of Smoky Mountain logging. This is when the feuding action begins and the ESPN World Champions take the stage in this no holds barred competition. Hold on to the edge of your seats as the log rolling, tree climbing, axe throwing, log chopping, hot sawing slug fest begins.
Remember “Someone’s gonna lose!”, but certainly not the guests of this new attraction.. DON’T MISS THE ROWDIEST GOOD TIME IN THE SMOKIES AT THE LUMBERJACK FEUD!
