Known for its family-friendly beach, beautiful sunsets, boardwalk and trails, outdoor activities and events, fine dining, fantastic shopping, eclectic art galleries, water sports, and welcoming atmosphere. Duck is the hidden gem of the Outer Banks.
Duck’s Beach
Duck’s beach is nationally-recognized as one of the “Top 15 Family-Friendly Beaches in America.”
When visiting Duck’s beach, remember:
• All cautions and advisories issued by lifeguards are for your safety.
• Remove all personal items daily, including tents by 7:00 p.m., or they may be removed as litter.
• Tents can only be 12’ x 12’ or smaller, must be placed 10’ apart or more, and cannot be tied together.
• Attend to and refill all beach holes.
• Place all beach items at least 15 feet away from the base of the dune to allow for emergency access.
• Pets may play unleashed, but must be under the control of a guardian.
• When red flags are flying, do not go into or swim in the ocean.
• Dispose of all trash, including pet waste, in the proper receptacles.
Duck Town Park & Boardwalk
The Duck Town Park is a premier community recreational facility enabling visitors and residents to partake in the natural beauty of this 11-acre soundside maritime forest and willow swamp. Park amenities include a gazebo, boardwalk, kayak launch, amphitheater, picnic shelter, playground, walking trails, and a dog-friendly water fountain. Park visitors can take in an evening concert; stroll on the boardwalk; have a picnic lunch; or kick back, relax, and enjoy the park’s natural beauty.
The Duck Boardwalk can be accessed from the Town Park and other locations throughout the Town’s Village Commercial District. It begins at the Town Park and continues northward ending at The Waterfront Shops. It features a safe, pedestrian-friendly venue with views of the sound, access to various shopping areas, and a small boat pier for temporary mooring.
Park and Boardwalk Operating Hours:
• The Park is open from dawn until dusk.
• The Boardwalk is open from dawn until 1:00 a.m.
A few key things to remember:
• No bicycles can be ridden in the park, on the park trails, or on the boardwalk and pier.
• Pets, on a leash, are allowed in the park and on the boardwalk. Pet owners are required to clean up after their pets.
• Smoking is prohibited within the Town Park, on the boardwalk and pier, and at all Town facilities and events.
• Children under 12 should be under the supervision of an adult.
• Crab and fish in designated areas only.
• Wear footwear while traversing the boardwalk system.
• Watercraft of any type, other than canoes or kayaks, cannot be launched within the Town Park.
• Watercraft may be tied up at the public pier which is located at the northern end of the boardwalk.
• The park and boardwalk are designed for passive public use and cannot be reserved. Town-sponsored events take precedence over all other uses.
• Commercial activity with the park and on the boardwalk is prohibited.

Duck Events
Join us for our fifth season of free, fun-filled, and family-friendly events. All events are held at the Duck Town Park, 1200 Duck Road, with the exception of the 4th of July Parade, and are free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for events on the Town Green; no beach umbrellas or tents are permitted. The Town Park is a smoke-free facility. In the case of inclement weather or site unavailability, an event may be cancelled. The 2011 schedule is (subject to change)
Duck Unplugged
“Duck Unplugged” is a singer/songwriter series offered Tuesdays from July 5 through July 26 beginning at 6:00 p.m., gates open at 5:30 p.m.

4th of July Parade
Duck’s annual parade is Monday, July 4 at 9:00 a.m. The parade begins at the crest of the hill on Scarborough Lane, continues down Ocean Way, and then Christopher Drive. Arrive early to get the best spot on the route. No part of the parade is on Duck Road. Afterwards, join us at the Park for music by Ruth Wyand & Friends, awarding of parade trophies, and a special treat.
Theater and Music Series
The Lost Colony Musical Theater cast will present a song and dance preview of The Lost Colony production on Tuesdays from July 5 through August 9. Shows are at 10:00 a.m. and are at the amphitheater; gates open at 9:30 a.m.
Family Magic Show
Witness incredible illusions, mind-bending magic, comedy, and audience participation the entire family will love -- live on stage by OBXtreme Magic. Magic shows are held on Wednesdays from July 6 through August 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the amphitheater; gates open at 9:30 a.m. The shows are underwritten by Kellogg’s Supply and The Cottage Shop. Although this event is free, tickets are required for entry. Tickets will be available the week of the show at Kellogg’s Supply and The Cottage Shop, 1201 Duck Road.
