Most restaurants in Carteret County have ABC permits and are allowed to serve mixed drinks, as well as beer and wine. The exception is Down East and Newport, where only beer and wine are allowed. North Carolina law prohibits the sale of alcohol after 2 a.m. on Monday through Saturday, and from 2 a.m. until noon on Sundays. ABC stores are closed on Sundays.
There is no statewide smoking ban in North Carolina, but many restaurants and public buildings have gone smoke-free regardless. Please respect posted signs.
