History and culture define the region and can be readily experienced by a simple stroll down the quaint tree-lined streets of Wilmington. The once thriving port and docks have manifested themselves into a vibrant waterfront village. packed with shoppers and sightseers during daylight hours, the evening welcomes a flourishing nightlife scene offering everything from river front dining to rooftop dancing. While still retaining the stately grandeur of its past, the downtown are is a perfect blend of old world charm and modern convenience. Several area plantations offer a glimpse of the antebellum South that once existed.
